Natrang stages play ‘Naye Yug Ki Naari’

JAMMU, July 20: A new play by Natrang ‘Naye Yug Ki Naari’ written and directed by Padamshree Balwant Thakur was premiered here today at the auditorium of IIM Jammu.
Prof B.S Sahay, Director IIM Jammu was the chief guest and the show was part of the orientation program organised by IIM Jammu for its students.
The onstage participants of the play were a part of theatre internship programme organised by Natrang exclusively for GCW Parade and GCW Gandhi Nagar.
The play ‘Naye Yug Ki Naari’ speaks about the new-age women. Opening with a narrative full of depressing stories of exploitation of women from birth to death, the play in a highly effective manner conveys a strong message aimed at total change of society’s mindset. Fact remains that there have been significant achievements in doing away gender inequality, the journey towards dismantling deeply ingrained patriarchy and achieving women empowerment in India in true sense remains arduous.
Prominent poet and composer Brij Mohan collaborated this play musically and senior artist Veerji Sumbli supported in design and craft. Neeraj Kant assisted Balwant Thakur in mounting this production whereas Mohd. Yasin was coordinator.
The actors who performed in the play were Mahi Verma, Payal Khanna, Shalini Bhagat, Aradhana Soodan, Akriti Jamwal, Ayushika Rajput, Harmandeep Kour, Pratishtha Sharma, Ayushi Sharma, Pooja Thakur, Palak Thappa, Prerna Sharma, Simran Rajput, Meenu Sharma, Geeta Thakar, Richa Dutta, Lakshita Devi, Pratibha Verma, Anshika Mangoch, Anshika Choudhary, Parul Magotra, Kibriya Gohar, Isha Gupta, Aditi Verma, Divyanshi Sharma, Pragi Sharma, Simran Bhagat and Mitali Sarmal.
