VIJAYPUR, Sept 12: Theatre group Natrang here today staged play ‘Naye Yug Ki Naari’ at the convention centre of AIIMS Jammu.
The play was written and directed by Balwant Thakur and it speaks loudly about the gender equality and new-age women.
Opening with a narrative full of depressing stories of the exploitation of women from birth to death, the play depicts the odyssey of women from patriarchal times-the harrowing experience of the times to her unwavering commitment to be a part of change and transformation.
The play conveys a very strong message of the women folk seeking mindset of the society.
On this occasion Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Gupta, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu felicitated Natrang artists.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Shakti Gupta termed the art and theatre a must for the overall development of the students.
“Art of theatre can be of huge help in medical profession as it teaches self-awareness, understanding of complex human conditions, empathy, self-confidence and the art of decision making,” he maintained.
Earlier, Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur dwelt in detail about the emerging role of theatre in everyone’s life.
Artists who were honoured by AIIMS were Mahi Verma, Simran Bhagat, Kibriya Gohar, Pragi Sharma, Aradhana Soodan, Shalini Bhagat, Lakshita Devi, Ayushika Rajput, Meenu Sharma, Aakriti Jamwal, Isha Gupta, Harmandeep Kour, Prerna Sharma, Divyanshi Sharma, Geeta Thakur, Simran Rajput, Palak Thappa, Pooja Thakur and Pratibha Verma while senior Light Designer, Suraj Ganjoo was also honoured for brilliantly designing and executing lights for the play.
