JAMMU, Oct 31: Natrang presented Munshi Premchand’s ‘Sevasadan’ dramatized by Rakesh Kumar Gupta at the auditorium of ONGC Deen Dayal Urga Bhawan in Delhi.
The play was designed by Anil Tickoo who is a recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the field of Theatre Acting.
In the play, an honest police officer is unable to marry off his elder daughter, ‘Suman’, to a good family because of hefty dowry demands and his financial limitations. So, he tries corruptive ways to obtain enough money so as to play his responsibilities towards his two daughters, but he lands up behind the bars.
This paradigm was highlighted in the play that as it is almost certain in our society that corrupt people are seldom punished, it is most probable that honest people are caught when they tread on the corrupt ways. The ever contemporary and relevant text of the play was its soul which provided a glimpse of the deep intellect of the writer who could conceptualize this eternal vice and presented it in such a dramatic manner that it looks proximate, every time it is presented before the audience.
The artists who performed in the play included Anil Tickoo as ‘Sutradhar’, Neeraj Kant as ‘Krishan Chander’, Vrinda Sharma as ‘Gangajali’, Suresh Kumar as ‘Mahant’, Sanjeev Gupta as ‘Mukhtyar’, Kananpreet Kaur as ‘Suman’, Aarti Devi as ‘Shanta’, Sushant Singh as ‘Mathat-1’, Gopi Sharma as ‘Mathat-2’, Meenkashi Bhagat as ‘SP’, Subash Jamwal as ‘Chela-1’, Parth Sharma as ‘Chela-2’ and Toyab Hussain as ‘Chettu’.
The lights of the play were executed by Shivam Singh whereas the sound was rendered by Vanshika Gupta.
