JAMMU, Apr 14: Natrang’s Spring Theatre Workshop for Children-2015, concluded here today with the presentation of the play ‘Let My Country Awake’, written and directed by Aarushi Thakur.
Speaking on the occasion, Natrang director Balwant Thakur gave an overview of the concept behind Natrang’s theatre initiatives for children. He stressed on the need of exposing children to this amazing art of theatre. “Theatre is magical in shaping the overall personality of the children. It equips them with lot of confidence which proves highly instrumental for them to excel and lead in all spheres of life,” he explained.
‘Let My Country Awake’ was about the psychological impact on children which is implicated by our society. The play talks about the rights of children who hope for a country where their right to freedom and security are preserved. It also takes up issues like women security deficit in our society and how it affects the child’s growth.
The stars of the play, who gave performance, included Gopi Sharma, Sanchita Dubey, Vidit Shirsh, Divyan Sharma, Samyak Shirsh, Asma Gul, Agam Kaur, Madhuria Sharma, Ayn Bhola, Suditi Jamwal, Swaranjali Sambyal, Anandita Sethi, Khushi Jandial, Navya Jain, Yajur Mahajan, Sahil Anand, Prashant, Himansh Gupta, Nirbhay Khajuria, Sanyam Gupta, Shreya Gupta, Arnav Anand, Sahil Anand, Sanya Gupta, Vairaj Sharma, Vansh Vardhan Singh, Archit Sharma, Parakram Singh, Praney, Shivangni Sharma, Gauri Sharma and Niddyaat Singh Jamwal.
Neeraj Kant devised the settings and lighting of the play and was assisted by Mahikshit Singh, Ankush Lakhnotra and Shivam Singh.
Natrang conducts Spring Theatre workshop every year for children for a period of 10 days in which in addition to the devising of a production, children are exposed to various aspects of theatre.
