NAUP demands compensation for rainfall hit farmers

JAMMU, Oct 18: National Awami United Party (NAUP) president, Sandeep Singh has urged upon the LG administration to take cognisance of drastic damage caused to crops during the recent rains.
In a press conference here today he said that the farmers are looking towards LG administration for relief as damage has been caused to their crops during the recent rainfall.
“It is the duty of administration to assess the ground realities. Whether the crops are covered under insurance or not but as this is natural disaster, compensation should be issued in favour of all the affected farmers of J&K,” Singh maintained appealing to PM Modi led Government and LG administration to waive off KCC loans immediately to give relief to farmers.
The NAUP leader also raised the issue of smart meters which are installed at the end of farmers’ tube-wells. “The farmer community is all dependent on crops but the natural disaster of rainfall has destroyed these crops leaving farmers in miserable condition,” he continued demanding proper help to the affected farmers.
