JAMMU, May 28: National Awami United Party (NAUP) today reiterated its long pending demand for establishment of Satellite Duggar Channel in Jammu.
The demand in this regard was raised by Shikha Bandral, General Secretary of NAUP here today.
She said that while all languages listed in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution have their dedicated satellite channels, Jammu has been unfairly excluded.
“In a 2014 meeting with Prasar Bharati, proposals were made for satellite channels for Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu. While other regions have received their channels, Jammu continues to be neglected. Why is Jammu being denied its identity?” she questioned.
Bandral emphasized that a Duggar Satellite Channel is crucial for promoting Dogra culture.
“Duggar Satellite Channel is the only platform that can truly promote Dogra culture,” she asserted.
She noted that the demand for the rights of Dogras is prominently featured in the manifesto of the National Awami United Party.
“NAUP is the only party fighting for the rights of Dogras,” she said and criticized the LG administration for ignoring the demand of Dogras and favoring only Kashmiris.
She further pledged that if NAUP comes to power, a Duggar Satellite Channel and a Dogra certificate for Jammu will be issued within 24 hours.
“We are committed to preserving and promoting Dogra heritage and will take immediate action to rectify this long-standing oversight,” she added.
