JAMMU: Principal Secretary Finance Department, Navin Kumar Choudhary today convened a meeting to review the physical and financial achievements registered by the Department of Excise during the current financial year.
The activities of executive, enforcement and distillery wings were also reviewed threadbare in the meeting.
While addressing the meeting, Principal Secretary stressed for working in tandem to ensure that the set targets are optimally achieved. He emphasized on ensuring transparency and accountability in the functioning of the department and exhorted field functionaries to be business friendly as they are the important stake holders of the taxation system.
He also emphasized on further enhancing the enforcement activities, adding that the concerned officers should conduct regular raids in their respective areas of jurisdiction for the purpose and make all out efforts to eradicate the menace of illicit liquor, bootlegging and illegal cultivation of Bhang and Poppy.
Mr Choudhary directed Excise Commissioner to suggest ways and measures to improve the welfare of staff posted at Lakhanpur including boarding, lodging, health checkups etc.
He also asked for rationalisation of staff for optimum utilization of manpower and asked the concerned to carry out comprehensive review of their job profile, trainings , refresher courses and skill development in the changing economic scenario to further improve the functioning of the department.
Excise Commissioner, Javed Khan, Deputy Excise Commissioner Executive, Muried Hussain Shah, Deputy Excise Commissioner Accounts Shagun Sharma, Deputy Excise Commissioner (Distilleries), Nagendra Singh Jamwal, Deputy Excise Commissioner Executive Kashmir, GM Bhat , Principal Excise Training Institute, Shenaz Akhtar Additional Secretary Finance, Shahid Saleem and other officers of the department attended the meeting
