JAMMU, July 27: Fisheries Department is going to conduct e-auction of 50 wholesale cum retail shops to be allotted to the bidders situated at Narwal Mandi, Jammu.
Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Fisheries Department, Navin Choudhary, today chaired a meeting to discuss modalities for procedure to be adopted during e-auction of the fish shops.
Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Avny Lavasa; Director, Fisheries, Bashir Ahmad Bhat; Joint Director, Fisheries, Manzoor Ahmed Wani; Chief Project Officer, Marketing Narwal Jammu, Masood Ahmed Wani and concerned fish wholesaler and retailer shopkeepers attended the meeting.
Commissioner JMC gave details of fish wholesalers and retailers in the municipal jurisdiction and also briefed about the existing fish markets in the JMC limit.
Director Fisheries apprised the Principal Secretary about the detailed report of auction process being adopted normally by the fisheries department during conduct of such auctions.
Navin Choudhary directed the officers to complete the process of e-auction of 10 shops for whole sale market with in stipulated time frame. He also directed them to ensure that priority should be given to those whole sellers who have received the notice from JMC.
Principal Secretary stressed upon the officers to conduct the process for allotment of 40 retail fish shops on the same lines through e-bidding.
Navin said that this is the first such fish market in Jammu and Kashmir which has been established as a pilot project and it is envisaged that many more such markets shall be developed in the UT.
He said that the purpose of development of such markets is to provide neat and hygienic environment to customers as well as fish retailers and wholesalers who had been operating from dingy and unorganized areas earlier.
