Navin discusses modalities for introduction of syllabus in Physical Education

JAMMU :  In order to formulate the syllabus in the Physical Education to be introduced at the Secondary School level, a high -level meeting of officers of Education, J&K BOSE and Youth Services & Sports Departments was held here today under the chairmanship of  Mr. Navin Agarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K.

During the deliberations, it was pointed out that the subject of Physical Education has been made compulsory by the State Government in all Middle and High Schools vide order no. 68-Edu-Tech of 2005 Dated: 16-05-2005, but till date standard syllabus for secondary school has not been framed and submitted to J&K BOSE for finalization and its introduction.

Mr. Navin Agarwal said that the delay in introducing the syllabus has not only affected the sports aptitude of the young generation, but has also left them far away to avail the chance to groom as a classified sports person and individual having personality full of values for a credible citizen of a country. He added that introducing Physical Education as a compulsory subject for secondary level will  prove  useful in right perspective for the students as also to maintain the accountability of Physical Education Teachers.

Mr. B.K. Pathak,  Representative of Secretary  Board of Secondary School Education, Munshi Mohammad Javed Representative of Director School Education, Kashmir, Mr. Saif Ali Chouhan, Representative of Director, Education Department, Jammu,  Mr.  Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Kashmir, Dr. Hartej Singh, Principle Govt. College of Physical Education, Haji Mirza Hussain and other officers associated with the subject attended the meeting and shared their views on the subject.
