NEW DELHI: Claiming that the ‘Gujarat Navsarjan Yatra’ of Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has evoked a resounding response among the people of the state, the party has said the public connect generated by Mr Gandhi was a sign that the party would win the Assembly elections in the state with a big margin.
”The huge gathering at the rallies of Mr Gandhi and the public response, coupled with the non-performance of the NDA Government, is a sign of a resurgent Congress.
The hard work and the public connect generated by Mr Gandhi are assuring that the Congress was sure to win the Assembly elections in the state with a resounding margin,” an editorial in the Congress mouthpiece Sandesh said.
The theme of the election campaign by the Congress Vice-President is ‘Yuva Rozgar, Kisan Adhikar’.
During his rallies in the state of Gujarat, Mr Gandhi who began his ‘Navsarjan Yatra’ from the pilgrim town of Dwarka, while reminding people of the promises of Prime Minister Narendra Modi he had plans to introduce two-crore jobs every year, said on the contrary, he (PM) had not been able to generate even a few lakh jobs across the country.
Rahul also reminded the people that due to the economic policies of the Government, the big employers were announcing a cut-down in their jobs, leaving a huge number of people unemployed.
”There is a huge distress among the youth because they do not see any improvement in their situation,” Mr Gandhi said.
During his rallies, the Congress Vice-President also referred to the increasing farmers’ distress in the country.
”The distress of farmers across the country is also increasing because they are not getting the required help from the government and the remunerative promised by PM Modi.
Rahul said the farmers had been complaining that they are not getting water and electricity. ”The electricity meant for farmers is diverted to big industrial enterprises. The growth of Gujarat is not because of the policies of Modiji but despite it, because if the hard work and diligence of Gujarat people who have been traditionally enterpreneurs,” Mr Gandhi said.
He promised that if the Congress was brought back to power in the state, they would bring back development in the agenda.
To farmers, he promised that if they come to power, the Congress will waive off the loans of the farmers in the first ten days.
“The people made light of the statements that Modiji has made in the last few years. The people want to know that if the BJP Government was unable to provide the promised progress in two decades, how were they going to do it by 2022 when India celebrates the Diamond jubilee of his independence and which year Modiji has started referring to.
This year is three years after the term of this Government expires so there is no responsibility of delivery. People are not going to vote the BJP to power with this state of the country and economy anytime soon.” (AGENCIES)
