A delegation from J&K led by refugee leader and Ex-minister Manjeet Singh meeting Prime Minister in Delhi on Wednesday.

JAMMU, Dec 19:  Refugee leader and former Minister Manjeet Singh, vice chairman of Advisory Board for the Welfare and Development of Other Backward Classes Kuldeep Verma and vice chairman Gujjar-Bakerwal Advisory Board  Bashir Naz met the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and took up the issues of refuges and border people from  Kathua, Jammu, Samba, Rajouri and Poonch with them.
During the meeting with the Prime Minister in Union capital today, these leaders from Congress Party, demanded comprehensive settlement of PoK, West Pakistan and Chhamb refugees. They also demanded that farmers from border areas of Jammu division be given crop compensation as their huge land was lying on other side of the fencing. They also demanded that fencing be erected closer to the zero line as the farmers were facing lot of difficulties.
These leaders further demanded that the compensation and rent for the land coming under ditch-cum-bandh constructed by Army  in 1965 should be enhanced. They also demanded special recruitment  drive in these four border districts of Jammu region  for the SCs/ STs/ OBCs  and other minorities. They sought one time settlement for the refugees  of 1947, 65 and 71 besides West Pakistanis. They also demanded construction of Railway line to Rajouri-Poonch.
They also met the Union Home Minister Mr Shinde and projected these demands. They submitted memoranda to these two leaders with charter of demands.
