JAMMU Oct 29: Describing National Conference as a force to reckon with, Provincial President Rattan Lal Gupta today said that history stands testimony to the path breaking role of the party, which he termed as a mass movement, in bestowing democratic rights to marginalized population of Jammu and Kashmir.
Felicitating former minister and senior leader Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo on his appointment as Zonal President Chenab Valley at a function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here, Gupta said that being deep rooted National Conference alone can satiate the urges and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir who alone who will shape their destiny in the robust democratic setup of India.
The Provincial President said that the National Conference has remained in the forefront to serve the people, irrespective of religion and region.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo said National Conference is the party of poor, peasants, working class, marginalized segments of society that has flourished as a big Caravan over the decades to steer J&K to peace, progress and prosperity. The party will continue to play its historic role in meeting the challenges, as it does not only represent the glorious ethos of unity in diversity but reflects the urges and aspirations of the people, he added.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included : Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy, Qazi Jalal Ud Din, Brij Mohan Sharma, Mohinder Singh,Surinder Singh Bunty, Vijay Lochan, Abdul Gani Teli, Mehboob Iqbal, Tanveer Babzada and others.
Meanwhile, Rattan Lal Gupta nominated heads for various wings of the region.
While Ajaz Jan shall continue to be Provincial President Youth National Conference Jammu province, Satwant Kour Dogra shall also continue to function as Provincial President Women Wing Jammu Province.
Nar Singh shall continue to head State Center labor Union Wing of Jammu Province, Abdul Gani Teli as Provincial President OBC Cell Jammu Province, Vijay Lochan as Provincial President SC Cell Jammu Province and Mr Dinesh Singh Chouhan Senior Advocate as the Provincial President Legal Cell Jammu Province.
