SRINAGAR, July 27: Oppo-sition National Conference (NC) today staged a protest march here on various issues including the deaths of civilians allegedly in firing by security forces and price rise.
Several NC workers, led by party general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, took out the protest march from party headquarter Nawa-e-Subah here.
According to a party spokesperson, the NC activists were protesting the alleged killings, price hike and repeated restrictions in Srinagar.
They tried to march towards the Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to Governor N N Vohra, but were stopped by police near Sonwar.
Some activists, including Youth National Conference president Salman Sagar, were detained by the police.
