VIJAYPUR, Dec 15: Senior National Conference leader and former Minister, Surjeet Singh Slathia today decried divisive politics, saying it has no place in a state like J&K facing many challenges.
“National Conference, being the only unifying force, alone can steer out the state from the morass to peace and development and bring political stability in Jammu and Kashmir”, Slathia said while addressing prominent citizens and party workers at Vijaypur this afternoon.
He urged them to meet the challenge posed by disruptive and anti-people elements in the past few months and left with a legacy of unprecedented political instability. “This challenge has to be met”, he said, exuding confidence that National Conference alone can fill the political vacuum in all the three regions and sub regions of the state.
Slathia said National Conference has surmounted numerous challenges ever-since its inception and history stands testimony to the fact how Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohd Abdullah braved the odds during most testing times and infused new vigour in the cadre.
He assailed BJP for working against the interests of the people, despite getting a massive mandate from Jammu. Slathia urged the cadre to be prepared for meeting the challenges which may unfold in the coming few months.
“This is the assigned role of a responsible political party, which we have accomplished with a sense of commitment”, he maintained.
Slathia urged the party rank and file to gear up in a big way for coming elections. He exuded confidence that the NC will meet all the challenges with active support of the people.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included- District president Samba NC, Mohinder Gupta, Vijay Singh, OP Attri, Bhagwan Singh, Mohan Singh, Reyaz Malik and Raman Gupta.
