SRINAGAR, Jan 8: National Conference today impressed upon the divisional administration to expedite its response to the problems which have surfaced in wake of heavy snowfall in Kashmir districts.
In a joint statement, party leaders Abdul Rahim Rather, Muhammad Shafi Uri, Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Mian Altaf Ahmed, Sakina Itoo, Mubarak Gul, Pirzada Gh Ahmed Shah, Shameema Firdous and Nazir Gurezi impressed upon the administration to clear all the major arterials, lanes and by lanes across Kashmir division on priority basis.
The leaders also impressed upon the divisional administration to take stock of the availability of necessary edibles including LPG, Kerosene oil and other household items in the far-flung areas and upper reaches of Kupwara, Baramulla, Anantnag, Pulwama, Chara e Sharief to ensure that people don’t have to undergo predicaments on that account.
They said the agencies consigned with the duty of snow clearance have miserably failed to restore hassle free commute on roads in Srinagar and other district headquarters across North, Central and South Kashmir.
While expressing dissatisfaction over the slack attitude of the restoration of water and electricity supply in snow bound areas, the leaders asked the administration to bump up the process of restoring the basic facilities across Kashmir at an earliest. They also asked the concerned departments to expedite the process of repairing damaged electric transformers on priority basis.
Meanwhile Vice President North Kashmir Dr Sajjad Shafi said the administration has miserably failed in its duty. “For the fourth consecutive day, normal life in Sub Division Uri remains paralyzed as the administration has failed to restore water, electricity and roads links in Sub Division Uri,” he said while expressing dismay over the slackness of the administration on its response to the snowfall aftermath.
He said more than 20 residential houses, scores of fruit trees and electric poles were damaged. Many roads including Gowalta, Gohalan, Sukdar, Churanda, Batgrah, Hatlanga, Mohthal, Upper Garkote, Zamorpatan, Lachipora, Hr Secondary road Bijhama, Bimyar to Morgan, Limber, Babagale, Budrali, Dudran and Chotali are still closed and power supply not restored yet in the villages included Garkote, Nambla, Sohra, Hatlanga, Balkote, Salikote, Syedpora, Thajal, Tilawari, Churanda, Batgrah, Sokad, Sukdar, Gohalan, Gowalta, Zamoorpatan, Dudran, Chotali, Maydanan. He urged the District Administration Baramulla and Uri Administration to clear snow on roads and restore electricity on war footing basis.
