KALAKOTE, Dec 15: Minister for Forests, Mian Altaf Ahmed, today exhorted people to vote for National Conference (NC) to ensure equitable development of all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir with thrust on border and remote areas.
Addressing a largely attended election meeting at Khawas in Kalakote Assembly constituency in support of the party candidate Thakur Rachhpal Singh, the Minister said the progress of the State becomes meaningless unless its backward pockets get developed.
“It is with this view the Omar led Government concentrated on the fast track development of remote areas to bring them at par with the urban areas”, he said adding that a substantial progress has been achieved in this regard.
Mian Altaf said that development has been the deep longing of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and process cannot be derailed by the elements inimical to development as also to the age old unity of the people.
The Minister sought a massive mandate for Rachhpal Singh saying his tireless work to bring about a discernible change in the constituency is being appreciated by one and all. He hoped that the people will make him victorious by a huge margin.
Speaking on the occasion, State vice president, Rattan Lal Gupta sought a decisive mandate for NC, saying this was the only party that can assuage the urges and aspirations of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh irrespective of their religious or regional aspirations.
Addressing the gathering, Rachhpal Singh assured that he will continue the developmental odyssey with renewed vigour in the next six years. “The past six years have witnessed overall development in various sectors and upgradation of the utility services”, he said and gave a resume of works undertaken for the betterment of the people.
