POONCH, May 5: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference senior leader and former MLA from Poonch-Haveli Ajaz Jan today said that the successive Government’s in J&K since 2015 have for saken the development demands of the Pir Panjal region and Poonch district in particular.
This Jan said in the second leg of his whirlwind tour to the remote areas of the Poonch district today. Jan visited upper reaches Baila Panchayat, where he took note of the problems faced by the locals in Nabni, Baran, Thilan, Jabri, Galisheikan and various other hamlets. During the tour, the locals apprised him about different problems particularly the absence of surface connectivity and to Baran Jabri Thillan and Galisheikan Baila. The locals also rued the issues of public utility services particularly electricity in the hamlets.
The visiting NC leader was apprised that the hamlets are yet to be electrified despite the tall claims of administration on 100 percent rural electrification. Interacting with the locals while making stopovers at various hamlets, Jan said that the Poonch district has long been rescinded from the development radar of the Government.
“There has been no upgradation and augmentation of public utility services in the district. The claims of Government on universal rural electrification is yet to materialise in this district. Claims of good governance and bringing a seismic shift in addressing the concerns of the most vulnerable sections of society have fallen flat. Administration is not visible on ground in Poonch. Local people are hankering for road connectivity, employment, portable water, electricity. Administration has failed to attend to the woes of locals. People don’t know, where to go to have their issues redressed,” he said.
Jan assured the people that he will take up the issues with the appropriate authorities for their swift redressal.
He was accompanied by local Sarpanch Ch Azhar Masood, Abdul Razaq Sarpanch, Mubashar Hussain Banday Sarpanch and several Panchs Block Mandi.
