JAMMU, Jan 1: State vice president of Women Wing of J&K National Conference and former MLA Bimla Luthra said that the present government has failed to take any concrete steps towards reducing the suffering of women amid these challenging economic conditions.
She was addressing a meeting of party workers at Budhi in Jasrota Constituency of district Kathua.
The meeting was organized by Ashu Rajput District president Kathua Rural Women Wing JKNC. On this occasion various women workers joined National Conference.
Luthra said that today there is a dire need to make the women fully aware about their rights and take appropriate and adequate steps to empower the women folk so that they come forward to demand their entitlement under such rights. She said that since majority of women are home makers, they are the worst victims of the sky rocketing prices, property tax and unprecedented inflation during the BJP rule due to the wrong policies.
Due to non-availability of basic amenities including water, power, roads, old age pension, the people of village of Budhi are going through tough times. The unscheduled power cuts and erratic water supply and also come to the fore while interacting with my sisters here, she added.
Sham Narian Mehta District president Kathua Rural asked people to be cautions from divisive policies of BJP and support the National Conference in the upcoming polls in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pinky Khalsa District president Jammu Urban women wing and Ashu Rajput also addressing the meeting and asked people to strengthen the party while working at gross root level.
Those who were present in the meeting included Parveen Kousar, Joginder Kour District vice presidents Women Wing Jammu Urban, Prem Chand and others.
