JAMMU, Nov 30: Zahir Abdullah, National Conference youth leader and son of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, today said that NC was committed to empower women, securing their rightful place in society.
While addressing a meeting of women functionaries at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu, Zahir Abdullah recalled the remarkable contributions of Madr-e-Meharban, who played a historic role in the socio-political movement of J&K and championed female literacy and empowerment of weaker sections of society.
“The National Conference has a proud legacy of standing by women, irrespective of region, religion, caste, or creed,” he said and added that the NC Government, headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will remain steadfast in its mission to empower women and ensure their rightful place in society.
He further emphasized that NC has always championed the cause of women’s rights and will continue to prioritize their inclusion and representation in every sphere of life.
Zahir’s brother Zameer Abdullah was also present in the meeting, held under the chairmanship of Bimla Luthra, Ex-MLA.
Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of NC, in his address, stressed that women must emerge as pivotal agents of change in the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body elections in J&K. He emphasized the crucial role of women in the socio-political transformation of the region.
Highlighting the party’s unwavering commitment in empowering women across all spheres of life, he urged women in J&K to come forward and contribute to strengthening the National Conference, reiterating that under the leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, the party would ensure adequate representation for women in the political domain.
