VIJAYPUR, Mar 31: Former Minister and senior leader Surjeet Singh Slathia today urged upon the people to further strengthen National Conference to meet the challenges faced to the State, saying this is the only party which is predominantly visible in the political landscape of the J&K State.
“National Conference is a force to reckon with”, Slathia said while welcoming a large number of youth from Bari Brahmana, Badhori, Smailpur, Birpur, Dasal, Suchani and Raika into the party fold at a function held here this morning.
Greeting the new entrants into the NC fold, Slathia hoped they will play their crucial role in heralding a new era of trust and understanding that has been polluted by communal and opportunistic politics. He said larger participation of youth will give a refreshing direction to the political discourse and those having blend of experience and vigour can carry forward the mission of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah who stood for inclusive and pluralistic State even during most horrendous times of the history.
Slathia said that National Conference under the dynamic leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah is determined to satiate the political, developmental and economic aspirations of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. He said the party has all along provided equal opportunities of progress to all, irrespective of caste, religion and region.
Those present on the occasion included ex-Chairman, Municipal Committee, Bari Brahmana, Raman Gupta and Naib Sarpanch Gotam Singh. They also greeted the new entrants into the party fold.
The prominent political activists, who joined the party pledged their support to the policies and programmes of National Conference.
