NC complains to EC against Modi

SRINAGAR, Nov 30:  National Conference today filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for hurling “wild, unsubstantiated and defamatory accusations” against the leadership of NC during his recent speeches in Jammu.
In a letter shot to the Chief Election Commissioner of India, the NC has quoted examples of defamatory allegations made by the Prime Minister in his rallies in Jammu and said that this not only violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) but is also in contravention to all laws that are in place to protect a citizen’s rights.
The National Conference would like to draw your attention on successive violations of Mode Code of Conduct (MCC) by the BJP and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent speeches in Jammu and Kashmir. Mr Modi has repeatedly, more recently in his speeches in Udhampur and Poonch, named the leadership of NC while raising “wild, unsubstantiated allegations” against them. This, while a clear act of defamation, is also a violation of the MCC. This is also a clear attempt to malign our respected leaders who are equal citizens of this country and have every right to defend themselves against such defamation.  We request you to take immediate cognizance of these violations and take the necessary action mandated under the relevant statutes of the law and treat this as our formal complaint to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on this matter” the complaint sent to the Chief Election Commissioner of India stated.
