JAMMU July 17: Provincial president of J&K National Conference for Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta today strongly condemned the abusive language used by the BJP leader against the senior functionaries of the Party.
In a statement issued here today, the senior NC leader said “It is regrettable that the outsider BJP leader, who appointed as the Prabhari of Jammu and Kashmir, is unaware of the significant contributions made by the National Conference towards the welfare of the state and its people. He (Chug) must be educated himself on such matters and uphold the principles of ethical politics before issuing such irrelevant press statements.”
Gupta emphasized that abusive language and personal attacks against individuals who have held high positions such as former Chief Minister and the leader of a prominent political party, should not be tolerated in a democratic society. Such behaviour undermines the spirit of healthy political discourse and reflects poorly on those who engage in it, he added.
NC leader apprised the BJP leader that Maharaja Hari Singh’s 1927 State Subject Law and Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s ‘Land to the Tiller’ were a shield which ensured that everyone in J&K had a home to live and grain to eat and nobody was shelter-less, nobody slept hungry. That protection should be provided to the people of Jammu and Kashmir particularly the poor, downtrodden and disadvantaged, he said, adding that it was the BJP who abrogated the Art 370 unconstitutionally and illegally from Jammu and Kashmir for which the people of J&K will never forgive the Saffron Party.
Provincial president asked the Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, recognizing the importance of maintaining decorum in political discourse, to advise their functionaries to refrain from using derogatory and disrespectful language when referring to the political stalwarts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Gupta called upon all political parties and their representatives to uphold the values of respect, dignity, and civility in public discourse. “We believe that a constructive dialogue and mutual understanding are essential for the progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. We hope that this incident serves as a reminder to the Saffron Party to prioritize the interests of the people and engage in respectful and meaningful debates that contribute to the betterment of our society,” he added.
