NC, Cong carry out joint campaign in Gurkha Nagar

JAMMU, Apr 7:  Senior National Conference and Congress leaders today exhorted the people to defeat negative and communal forces, saying peace inimical elements need to be kept at bay if Jammu and Kashmir has to progress and prosper.
“Reactionary forces have posed a big challenge and the people will have to frustrate their nefarious designs by the strength of their vote”, former NC Minister Babu Rampal and Minister for Horticulture Raman Bhalla said at a joint alliance meeting at Gurkha Nagar.
They said the vote to Madan Lal Sharma, alliance candidate for Jammu-Poonch constituency will be a nod for continuing the great effort of steering the State to new vistas of progress and development.
Mr Rampal and Mr Bhalla spelt out the steps taken during past over five years in making Jammu and Kashmir a peaceful and vibrant State, which has ushered in a new era of focussed development. They said development has got new impetus with focus on basic needs of the people. The State has progressed in every sector and restoration of peace has made it possible to take up development on a bigger plank. They urged the people to vote for continuation of this State in future as well.
Mr Bhalla gave an overview of the development taken by the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Among those who sought support for Madan Lal Sharma included senior NC leaders Pradeep Bali, Vijaylaxmi Dutta, Surinder Singh Bunty, Vijay Lochan, Anoop Sharma, Karuna, Babita Rana and others.
The leaders asked the people to vote in larger numbers for strengthening democracy in the State.
A number of women workers belonging to NC Women Wing also participated in the election meeting.
