NC, Cong condemn Farooq’s detention under PSA

JAMMU, Sept 16: Former Minister and senior leader National Conference Ajay Sadhotra has strongly condemned slapping of PSA on tallest main stream political party, J&K National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah.
In a press statement here Sadhotra said, Dr Abdullah had been 3- times Chief Minister of J&K State from 1983 to 2002 moreover, 4 times MP Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha and Union Minister for five years in Manmohan Singh Cabinet. He is more than 80 years old, moreover, he has got kidney transplanted. He is diabetic and hypertension patient.
Sadhotra termed it as sad, unfortunate and sorry state of affair. He said such actions of BJP Government shall lead to further alienation and has sent a wrong signal down below. It is high time to avoid such avoidable actions to avoid further alienation, NC leader added.
Meanwhile, PCC chief spokesperson and former MLC Ravinder Sharma has termed the detention of former Chief Minister and MP Lok Sabha Dr Farooq Abdullah under PSA, as highly unfortunate and unjustified.
Reacting to media reports, Mr Sharma said that the detention of Dr Farooq Abdullah under PSA, irrespective of his age and whose nationalistic and secular credentials are unquestionable, is totally unjustified and sends a very wrong signals about the largest democracy of the world.
The Centre and State Government are suppressing the democratic and fundamental rights of the citizens especially opposition leaders, which is totally illegal and unfortunate, PCC leader said.
