JAMMU, Dec 9: Unnerved by the BJP’s electoral juggernaut in the Assembly elections, NC, Congress and PDP have started to indulge into gondaism and harassment of BJP workers, said BJP State president & MP Jugal Kishore Sharma while addressing a press conference here today.
He said that eseeing the BJP’s success in achieving Mission 44+ these parties and their workers, out of frustration, have started to resort to strong arm tactics and intimidation of party workers.
Citing the incident in Nowshera constituency, where BJP Candidate Ravinder Raina was physically dragged from the vehicle and manhandled and an attempt was made on his life by the PDP candidate’s henchmen, he said that a complaint has been submitted to Chief Electoral Officer, in this regard. Though the police registered an FIR against the culprits but did not include the offence of attempt to murder in the FIR because of undue influence, he added. He further said that there has been attacks on BJP workers and candidates in Poonch, Bishnah (Chakra), Nagrota and other constituencies by the workers of opposition parties who have managed to put pliable officers in positions of decision making and law enforcement. The lopsided approach of these officers has emboldened the opposition parties to indulge in intimidation and harassment of BJP workers.
Jugal Kishore Sharma added that all these gimmicks and acts of violence and intimidation cannot stop the BJP election juggernaut. He also warned the local administration to desist from siding with any particular party. BJP State spokesperson Sunil Sethi and State Treasurer Chander Mohan Gupta were also present in the press conference.
