NC demands filling up of staff vacancies in Jammu hospitals

JAMMU, June 4: National Conference today expressed grave concern over staff deficiency in Government Medical College Hospital here and other hospitals across the Jammu region, saying such a lackadaisical approach has potential of jeopardizing the fight against corona virus.
In a statement, NC State Secretary and former MLC, Rattan Lal Gupta said the reports of huge vacancies of doctors, para medics and other support staff is quite disturbing and speaks about lessons not having been learnt during over one year of grim pandemic.
He said the vacancies should be filled up on priority, especially in view of the feared third wave. Any further delay will amount to playing with the lives of the people, as Jammu has already borne huge brunt during the second phase with alarming rate of COVID related deaths, he said.
Rattan Lal Gupta reiterated the demand of increasing bed strength, ensuring uninterrupted oxygen supply and making adequate buffer of ventilators. He said the COVID Care Centres should be made functional with oxygenated beds and adequate supplies of medicines.
