NC deplores shortage of essentials, expresses grief over Shopian deaths

SRINAGAR, Apr 28: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference today expressed concern over the   hardships faced by people living in the designated red zones across Kashmir on the account of shortage of essentials and also expressed grief over the fatalities in Shopian area.
In a joint statement party’s senior leaders and Member of Parliament from Baramulla Akbar Lone and Sakina Itoo (former minister) have expressed concern over the problems faced by people living in designated red zones in north and south Kashmir districts.
“Residents living in these classified zones aren’t able to purchase necessary essentials to run their kitchens due to the stringent lockdown. The prevailing pandemic has hit the poorest of poor and vulnerable the most. The Government does have a responsibility to reach out to such families in these designated red zones to ensure that they do not starve in wake of the strict containment measures put in place in view of COVID-19 crisis.  Providing necessary support to people should be high on the priority list of Government,” they said.
The NC leaders also said that the people living in such classified red zones find it very difficult to take patients to hospitals. “Administration should get its act together to ensure availability of ambulances in such designated zones. In addition to it, passes as and when required by people in such areas should be given following due protocol measures in case of emergencies.”
Meanwhile, National Conference MP, Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi expressed grief over the death of two girls in flashfloods in the Chotipura area of district Shopian.
Expressing grief over the loss of lives in the unfortunate incident Masoodi said, “I am pained to hear about the loss of two precious lives in Shopian who have been washed away by a spate of overflowing stream following a cloudburst. The victims, preliminary reports have revealed happened to be sisters. I express my solidarity with the mournful family in their hour of heartrending grief. I also impress upon the district administration to trace the bodies of the victims as soon as possible. I pray for peace to the souls of victims, and strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss.”
Meanwhile, Party’s Central Zone president Ali Mohd Dar has expressed deep anguish over the death of two sisters in flash floods in Nalla Rangwadi at Kutbal area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Dar while extending sympathies to the bereaved family said, “I am saddened to hear about the loss of lives in the incident. I express my sympathies to the kith and kin of the victims.”
