RAJOURI, Sept 20: Expressing concern over fascist forces establishing their foothold in the national politics, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today exhorted people to maintain vigil as they may try to spread their tentacles in Jammu and Kashmir as well to exploit the situation for their advantage in ensuing elections.
“We will not allow communalists and divisive elements to make this land of saints and sages their breeding ground as they endeavoured recently in Kishtwar”, Mr Rana asserted while addressing party conventions at Manjakote and Dungi blocks in the Rajouri district.
The Provincial President along with senior National Conference leaders is currently on a four-day tour of Rajouri district.
Addressing the conventions, Senior Vice President, Peer Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari and former MPs Choudhry Talib Hussain and Mirza Abdul Rasheed dwelt on the crucial role played by National Conference in forging unity among the people of the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and satiating their genuine political aspirations.
They said the successive NC Governments have strived for putting the state on the path of peace, development and prosperity, adding that report card of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the past four and half years stands testimony to his keenness to steer Jammu and Kashmir to highest pinnacles of progress.
Mr Rana said amity, tranquillity and communal harmony has remained hallmark of the State’s ethos and history stands testimony to the fact that those trying to tarnish this dominant character were made to lick dust by the people by maintaining unity. “This spirit has to be fortified in order to insulate Jammu and Kashmir from the hostile winds sweeping in most parts of the country”, he added.
The Provincial President said that an onerous responsibility has cast upon National Conference to protect the State from negative forces which in collusion with elements from within are scheming to disturb the peace that has dawned after sustained efforts and valuable sacrifices. He urged the party cadre to live up to the expectations of people and continue to work for their betterment.
Exposing BJP and PDP for their anti-people activities, Mr Rana narrated the sequence of events that led to disturbances in Kishtwar and vitiated the atmosphere elsewhere.
The Provincial President reiterated his caution about the machinations of PDP and BJP and said while the former is now concentrating in polluting peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir the latter is eyeing on disturbing peace in Jammu. “Both these parties are on the same page to put the state on boil to derive political mileage”, he maintained.
