NC for addressing issue of reservation in promotions

JAMMU, Dec 1: National Conference Jammu Province today sought urgent measures by the State Government to address the issue with regard to reservation in promotions of SC/ST/RBA/OBC/ALC categories in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Government has to take a call on this important issue”, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said while chairing a meeting of the functionaries at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan this afternoon.
Speaking on the occasion, National Conference leaders said that weaker sections belonging to all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh have played crucial role in steering the State to progress and development and their adequate representation in decision making will help to overcome numerous problems confronted to these sections of society.
The meeting discussed the arrangements made at Provincial, District and Block levels for observing the birth anniversary of ‘Baba-e-Quom’ across the Jammu region as elsewhere in the State. The day will be observed to make a resolve to maintain communal harmony and amity, the cherished ideals of the Sher-e-Kashmir, who all his life worked for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood. “Sheikh Abdullah’s message of communal amity has immense relevance now when the society is grappling with the challenge of intolerance”, the National Conference leaders maintained.
They referred to the crucial land reforms pioneered by Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah, which laid the foundation of equitable development of the State. They also recalled his glorious role in the spread of education and empowerment of various segments of society across the state.
The National Conference leaders said that the best tribute to Sheikh Abdullah would be to work with a missionary zeal to revive and strengthen the State’s deep rooted secular traditions, the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity, for ensuring peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions.
