JAMMU, Mar 19: Provincial president of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) Rattan Lal Gupta has said that National Conference is committed to equitable development of both the regions and sub- regions of the Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing a workers’ meeting at Satwari in Jammu, Gupta emphasized that NC has consistently been a strong voice for the downtrodden and underprivileged. He highlighted the Party’s historic role in advocating for the rights of those at the lowest economic rung and ensuring their socio-economic empowerment. He claimed that the National Conference Government led by Omar Abdullah was committed for the upliftment of all ther sections of the society and the equitable development of all the regions and sub regions of the UT of J&K.
The senior NC leader also referred to a few welfare measures introduced in the recent budget to improve the lives of marginalized communities. He highlighted the government’s special focus on AAY beneficiaries, ensuring ten kg of free ration per month, enhancement in the financial assistance under the Marriage Assistance Scheme for AAY category girls, 200 units of free electricity for this category, free public transport for women in government-owned buses, waiver of stamp duty on property transfers to relatives, and reducing inheritance disputes among marginalized families besides increase in widow and old-age pension.
Bimla Luthra (Ex-MLA), Vijay Lochan Chairman SC Cell and Chander Mohan Sharma District president Jammu Urban highlighted the hardships faced by weaker sections of society due to the hollow policies of the previous government. They stated that these marginalized communities have suffered immensely over the last ten years, as successive regime failed to address their pressing concerns.
Tejinder Singh Aman, Provincial president Jammu YNC, Rakesh Singh vice president Central Zone, Ramesh Motton, Jatinder Singh Lucky and Sandeep Wazir also spoke on the occasion. Dozens of social activists and workers of different parties joined National Conference.
