JAMMU, Jan 25: J&K BJP Chief Spokesperson Advocate Sunil Sethi today advised the National Conference Government to work for the restoration of temples and the temple properties in Kashmir to ensure the safe and dignified return of Kashmiri Hindu community to Kashmir.
“While the NC has repeatedly asked for the return of Kashmiri Hindus to the Kashmir in the past, and also during the Assembly elections, it has not yet made any effort to prove its statements,” he said, while addressing the media persons at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Sunil Sethi said that since the inception of terrorism in Kashmir, the Hindu temples were destroyed, and the properties were occupied by some people. The properties related to these places were either sold out or their rights were given to other persons in the names of lease etc due to the fear and distress involved, he added.
“The Hindu community will not feel a safe environment to return until those sacred places are cleared and a cordial environment is created, so that a sense of safety and brotherhood prevails in the Kashmiri Hindu community,” said the BJP Spokesperson.
“BJP believes that more than 3 months have passed after the formation of NC Government in Jammu & Kashmir, but till now no concrete measures have been taken by the NC Government to ensure the safe and dignified return of Kashmiri Hindus to Kashmir,” he added and suggested the NC Government to form a high-level committee, which should preferably be a All-party committee or Chief Secretary level official committee.
While elaborating, Sunil Sethi said that the committee should collect the comprehensive details forming a complete list of destroyed/damaged temples due to the terrorist activities, second list should be of properties of temples with illegal occupancy and third list should consist of the details of properties associated with temples which were given, sold, or leased in fear or distress.
“The NC Government should take decisive action on these 3 lists to prove their will for the safe return of Kashmiri Hindus to valley. NC Government should work to have a Kashmir with multi religious vibrant society instead of limiting itself to the political statements,” he said.
