NC has forfeited its right to represent people: Baig

Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR, Mar 22: The senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Muzzafar Hussain Baig said given its long trail of sell-outs and betrayals the National Conference has way back forfeited its right to represent Kashmiris and it is with this aim the PDP was launched to give voice to people both at local and national level.
Addressing party workers at Boniyar in Uri constituecy, Baig said the forthcoming Parliamentary polls will be turning point in the resolution of J&K issue and called upon the people to understand the treachery, deceit of NC which it has been playing with the State over the last 60 years to remain in power.
He said for NC elections till now have been to ensure employment for its leadership both in the State and Centre, and it has never been serious to address the issues of people and the coming polls gives an opportunity to people to elect those candidates, who are sincere and can solidly fight for their rights both within and outside the Parliament.
He said the prevailing trust deficit between New Delhi and Kashmir is all because of NC leadership which have been keeping the Parliament and the country’s political leadership in darkness over the ground realities of the State.
Castigating NC for its betrayals and double speak, Baig said the only achievement of NC leadership has been the frauds and tricks it has been resorting to over the last six decades and its single point agenda has been power and fancies at the cost of ordinary people, whom they have been demonizing as ‘anti-nationals’ to keep certain quarters in Delhi in good humour.
Baig said after looting and selling out the prime resources of J&K for power’s sake, NC patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah has insulted us all by calling us ‘Maha Chors’ without introspecting himself where he stands in the public life. He said the mysterious death of Haji Yousuf at Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah’s residence few years back, should been enough to shut their mouth, but instead they are insulting people only to hide that ugly episode, which had exposed the murky money deals in the Abdullah family.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said the high profile Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association Scam (JKCA), is an open shut case now. The police have established involvement of Dr Farooq in siphoning off millions of rupees meant for promotion of cricket in the State. He said fact of the matter is that one single family and some of their associates have been thriving and making assets in all regions of the State, in the country and in the foreign, as well, only by sucking blood of Kashmiris. He said it was ironical that after making merry over the sufferings of people, the NC leadership is shamelessly coming again and seeking votes.
The party chief spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar and local leaders, Dr Shabir Ahmad Mngral, Syed Najeeb Naqvi, Parvaiz Ahmad Mir, Ashaq Hussain Khan and other were also present on the occasion.
