JAMMU, Aug 31: BJP State spokesperson Prof Virender Gupta, while taking note of Omar Abdullah’s statement that PDP-BJP alliance is dividing people on communal line, said that it is National Conference (NC) which has acquired expertise to play communal politics to grab the political power.
In a statement issued here, today he said that right from the day of its first birth as Muslim Conference, it exploited Kashmiri Muslims against the Hindu Maharaja on communal lines and engineered 1931 riots targeting Kashmiri Pandits, resulting into their massacre and destruction of their property. The demand of Special Status of 370 in a country that has secular Constitution and ethos of respecting and embracing all the faiths with the belief that all leads to the same Almighty, had communal connotation. Not allowing Hindu and Sikh refuges form Muzfrabad, which was a part of Kashmir province to settle in Valley, exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, other Hindus and minorities and at present making it difficult of their resettlement in the Valley and also not allowing establishment of Sainik Colony in the Valley, are the consequences of communal politics being pursued under the patronage of National Conference, he added.
He said role of Omar Abdullah and the National Conference during Shri Amarnath land row in 2008, was a clear example of divisive politics of NC and other Kashmiri leaders.
Prof Virender Gupta said that discrimination with Jammu region, which has Hindu majority is a clear cut example of communal politics that is being played or was played by Kashmiri political leadership.
The spokesperson cautioned Omar Abdullah that his aggressive posture and the act of instigating the people against his presumption that Supreme Court would turn down Article 35A, biased policies of NC against Jammu and Ladakh regions shall divide the people on communal and regional lines and may lead to the division of the State and if it so happens, he and his party would be responsible for this development.
