POONCH, May 17: Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Rajya Sabha, Gulam Ali Khatana has said that Congress gave birth to National Conference (NC) under a conspiracy to victimise the non-Kashmiri Muslims.
Addressing a public meeting in Balakote today, Khatana said that the very first work NC did after its creation was to disempower all the Gujjars, Bakerwals, Paharis, Pathans, Khans, Jats and other non-Kashmiris.
“The NC-Congress jointly and selectively empowered the elite among Kashmiris and even called the poor among Kashmiris as Gujjars only to enjoy powers as rulers,” the senior BJP leader continued adding that all these malpractices rendered most of the non-Kashmiris backward, uneducated and made Paharis to fight Gujjars.
“Congress in J&K creates panic among the poor Muslims for votes while the BJP is only against the dynasts and works for the welfare of all irrespective of religion, region, caste or creed,” the MP of Rajya Sabha informed.
Khatana also said that BJP has sacrificed a lot for the country and its people and works hard so that the common people in J&K may contest and win the elections to serve the public.
“This is the reason why we do not support the dynasts and back the new people as our allies,” he maintained.
Farooq Magrey, BJP Mandal President; Divesh Kumar, Mumtaz Khan, Zulfikar Pathan, Zulfikar Ali Mumtaz, Haji Mohd Sadiq Khatana, Akhlaq Ahmed Khatana, Mushtaq Ahmed Khatana, Mohd Khursheed Khan, ex-Sarpanch, Mohd Bashir, Chairman Panchayat and others were also present in the meeting.
