JAMMU, Oct 16: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir, Chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi today said that trend of resignations in National Conference (NC) is not only in Jammu region but also in Kashmir as son of tallest N C leader from Valley, A.R. Rather joined People Conference (PC).
Taking note of recent political developments involving NC where its mainstay and most prominent leaders not only of Jammu province but also of Kashmir valley have deserted Party, is reflective of dwindling political position of party in Union Territory particularly in anticipated first elections to the Union Territory.
He said NC received big jolt in Jammu region with its provincial president, Devender Rana and its another very senior leader and former Minister, Surjit Slathia decided to leave NC to join Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) at the call of their conscious and because of the fact that NC have always done injustice to people of Jammu region and had been doing politics of proliferation and exploitation on regional discrimination.
He said very importantly both Rana and Slathia noted at the time of their joining BJP that they want to work for betterment of Jammu region and for equality to all regions for which the only political party appropriate is BJP. They were feeling suffocated in NC is clear indicative of policies of party were not allowing voices from Jammu region particularly from Hindu leadership to get strengthened.
Sethi said with joining of these two prominent leaders who have huge following in masses in their constituencies and beyond , Bhartiya Janata Party has got huge advantage in Jammu region. Their joining will lead to joining of many other leaders also in BJP who are getting suffocated in their respective parties with no opportunity to espouse cause of Jammu region, he added.
Sethi said it shows clearly that NC is a house divided with no attribute of internal democracy which has led to it falling apart like proverbial house of cards and in coming elections it will be uprooted politically by voters.
Sethi said new era has led to new real politics where there is no room for politics of division and hatred as propagated by National Conference and People Democratic Party (PDP).
