JAMMU, Jan 13: National Conference (NC) district Ramban president, Sajjad Shaheen has expressed concern over the frequent traffic jams and closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH).
“People living across J&K especially those in Kashmir and Banihal have been left at the mercy of landslides that disrupt traffic on the only all-weather road, which connects Kashmir with rest of the country,” Shaheen said in a handout.
He further said that the mismanagement and lack of coordination among Traffic Police along the NH is one of the factors responsible for the present mess at the NH.
The NC leader further said that the department has completely failed to regulate smooth flow of traffic on the roads as daily commuters and pubic in general has to remain stranded in traffic jams for hours together.
He further said that faulty execution of highway widening between Banihal and Ramban is the main reason for frequent jams.
Shaheen has appealed to the administration to evolve a mechanism in coordination with the stakeholders so that the people are taken out of this highway crisis.
