BANIHAL, Oct 5: District President National Conference Ramban Sajjad Sheheen today cautioned against the machinations of PDP-BJP combine in weakening the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, saying the duo is out to trifurcate the State as part of the Sangh agenda.
“National Conference has and will all such designs with the support of the people, Shaheen said while launching the party’s membership drive at a function in the Banihal Constituency.
He said trifurcation is the hidden agenda of the BJP which is being overtly and covertly supported by the PDP just to remain in power. The duo has developed a vested interest in dividing the state to further their political objectives, which is why no opportunity is missed to whip up communal and regional passions; he said adding that the coalition is working towards this end since formation of the Government.
Shaheen said that instead of pushing the development forward, which had been given new impetus by Omar Abdullah, the PDP-BJP Government is creating controversies. “There is a definite purpose in doing so, as the Government is diverting peoples’ attention from its failurers”, he said while urging the masses to read between the lines and foil all attempts of creating wedge between different segments of the society.
District President also urged the workers to make the membership drive a success, saying National Conference is the only party having its presence in every nook and corner of the State.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Sr District Vice President Mirwaiz Atta Mohammed Katoch, Mohammed Afzal Wani, Abdul Hamid Sheikh, Haji Abdul Ahad Shah, Abdul Jabbar Hajam, Haji Abdul Rashid, Saif-ud-Din Dar, Abdul Gaffar, Nazir Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed Mir, Haji Ghulam Mohammed Beig and Asrar Sheikh.
