NC MLA protests against shifting of horticulture faculty from Wadura Agri College

JAMMU, Feb 19: The NC MLA from Sopore Mohammed Ashraf today expressed grave concern over the shifting of horticulture faculty from Wadura Agriculture College in Sopore to SKUAST Srinagar.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, the MLA said that same faculty which was running in the College has been shifted after 35 years and there is a lot of resentment among the people of North Kashmir about the same.
He said all the Ministers and MLAs from North Kashmir are concerned about the same and questioned the shifting of faculty to SKUAST Shalimar. He sought immediate intervention from the Government. The MLA was also supported by Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah and MLA Langate, Engineer Rashid.
The MLA said when the faculty is shifted from college then close the College once for all.
However Agriculture Minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir said University Council has taken the decision regarding shifting of the faculty. However he assured the members that the status quo will be maintained and decision will be reconsidered by the University Council.
The MLA again raised issue during the debate on grants of Agriculture Ministry and Minister of Higher Education, Mohammed Akbar Lone also supported the member and said that the shifting of faculty will prove unproductive.
