Srinagar, Dec 5: The National Conference on Thursday paid tributes to party founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his 119th birth anniversary.

The party leadership, including NC president Farooq Abdullah and vice president, and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, paid floral tributes to the party founder at his mausoleum in the Hazratbal area of the city here.
Several party leaders, functionaries, and workers had gathered at the mausoleum to pay tributes to Sheikh Abdullah.
Sheikh Abdullah passed away in 1982.
In a statement, a government spokesman said Sheikh Abdullah, popularly known as Sher-e-Kashmir, is remembered for his visionary leadership and his enduring contributions to J-K.
In a solemn ceremony held at Naseembagh, the chief minister paid floral tributes at Sheikh Abdullah’s mausoleum, the spokesman said.
“They also offered Fateha (special prayers) at his grave to honour his legacy and reaffirm their commitment to the ideals he stood for,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister reflected on Sheikh Abdullah’s enduring impact on Jammu and Kashmir, stating, “Sher-e-Kashmir’s vision continues to inspire us to work tirelessly for the betterment of our people.
“Today, we remember his sacrifices and reaffirm our dedication to his ideals of justice, equality, and communal harmony,” the statement quoted the chief minister as having said.
NC president Farooq Abdullah also expressed his deep respect for his father’s contributions, calling him “a guiding light whose principles will always lead us forward”, the spokesman said.
