JAMMU, Dec 5: National Conference (NC) leaders paid tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his 112th birth anniversary and took pledge to stand guard against communal polarization and the alarming growth of hate politics.
“Isolating communal forces and strengthening the bonds of amity and brotherhood will be biggest tribute to Baba-e-Quom, who strived all his life for harmony among different segments of society and unity between the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir”, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said while leading the party cadre and leadership in paying homage to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning.
Rana exuded confidence that the NC cadre will stand tall in the prevailing vicious atmosphere of hate and mistrust and lead the society towards peace, harmony and tranquillity in true spirit of secular ethos bequeathed by Sheikh Abdullah.
Describing Sher-e-Kashmir as one of tallest leaders of the era of Mahatma Gandhi and Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan, the Provincial President said his secular and progressive outlook will continue to be a source of inspiration for generations.
Speaking on the occasion, former Minister and senior leader Ajay Kumar Sadhotra cautioned against the challenge of divisive politics and exhorted people to stand unitedly and fight the forces, hell bent upon trifurcation of the State.
Senior State Vice President and former Minister Surjeet Singh Slathia recalled the contribution of Sher-e-Kashmir in leading the people of the State towards the goal of political emancipation and socio-economic development braving numerous challenges.
State Vice President Kashmira Singh, Rattan Lal Gupta, State Vice President, former Minister and State Vice President Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, former Minister and Chairman SC OBC Cell Babu Rampal, former MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman, MLA Javed Rana, MLA Dr Kamal Arora and former MLC Brij Mohan Sharma also addressed the gathering.
Among others present were Mohammad Shafi Uri MLA, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, MY Taing, Rachpal Singh, Qazi Jalal-ud-Din, Jagjeevan Lal, Ajaz Ahmed Jan, Bimla Luthra, Satwant Kour Dogra, Deepender Kour, Vijay Laxami Dutta, Noor Hussain, Choudhary Wali Dad, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Bushan Lal Bhat, Bashir Ahmed Wani, Jugal Mahajan, etc.
The day started with Quran Khwani at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan that had been organized by GH Malik, which was followed by a visit to Vridh Ashram at Amphalla by senior leaders who distributed fruit among the inmates.
In Kishtwar, leaders of NC paid tributes to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. MLC Sajad Ahmed Kichloo addressed the gathering and recalled the contribution of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.
