Srinagar, Nov 19: The supporters of ruling National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Front chief Hakim Yasin today clashed in Khansahib, Budgam, injuring scores of them.
The clashes broke out between the supporters of two parties in Khansahib when NC candidate for Khansahib Assembly segment, Manzoor Ahmad was going to file his nomination papers for contesting elections at Sub District Magistrate’s office.
Eyewitnesses said the supports of Hakim had assembled in the premises of his house, located near SDM’s office. As the NC candidate reached there, his supporters began sloganeering in his favour that angered Hakim’s.
Soon after the clashes erupted between the two groups and they started pelting each other with stones, which continued for about two hours.
Police and Army personnel arrived on the spot and fired in air to disperse the clashing workers, witnesses said.
