JAMMU, Apr 22: BJP senior leader and former Deputy CM, Kavinder Gupta today decried at NC and PDP leaders and accusing them of indulging in totally different and unexpected kind of campaigning in the ongoing elections to the Lok Sabha. In a statement issued here, today he said the leaders of two parties are playing emotional cards to seek votes, instead of focusing on the much needed development and peace.
While questioning Mehbooba Mufti, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah to explain as to why general welfare, development and bringing peace and normalcy in the Valley in particular, does not matter for them, Kavinder said that leaving aside the important issues of development, they are not even bothered for restoration of peace in the Valley.
These two parties have been exposed for their anti-national utterances, he said. When a terrorist is killed or a separatist leader is arrested they abuse Indian forces. These parties target security forces to please Hurriyat and Pakistan, name their activists as Mujahideens just to gain support and vote, which is highly condemnable, he added.
He said in a democracy, people elect their representative for Parliament and State Assembly with an objective of getting their grievances highlighted, redressed and development of their areas. Every candidate of a political party goes to the public with the promise of development, progress and improving life of the people of the constituency represented by them. But unfortunately this has not been the concern of the NC and PDP leadership which has been the main cause of strife in the Valley, he added.
Kavinder Gupta said that the militancy in Kashmir has already impaired development and progress while thousands of lives have been consumed over the years by the terrorism but none from NC and PDP have ever uttered a single word of condemnation.
The people in Kashmir should understand that peace in Valley is imperative for flourishing tourism, trade and other economic activities but the said political parties are least bothered for the same. These parties should not be trusted anymore and be given a befitting reply in the polls, he added.
For BJP, restoring peace and normalcy is more important than playing emotional cards or pleasing the separatists, Kavinder declared.
