SRINAGAR, Apr 28: Reacting to the statement of Omar Abdullah that PAGD should fight the polls together to keep BJP and its B and C teams away so they don’t divide our votes, J&K Peoples Conference senior vice president and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil said that the sole objective of the main constituent parties in PAGD is to gain power and safeguard their interests at the cost of the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“NC and PDP have been befooling people on Autonomy and Self Rule now it is PAGD which was formed to struggle for restoration of Article 370 and 35- A but NC and PDP is using to save the two family rule in J&K. If PAGD was formed to struggle for restoration of Article 370 and 35A why suddenly it has become alliance for elections,” Vakil asked.
Vakil reminded Omar Abdullah that his political birth is in the lap of BJP as NC being the first party from J&K to ally with the BJP in lieu of making him the junior foreign minister in the BJP Government and compromised the interests of the people of J&K for their personal interests.
Vakil also reminded Omar it is his alliance partner Peoples Democratic Party who allowed the BJP to strengthen its base in Jammu and Kashmir and become part of the Government for the first time in the history of J&K. He said NC & PDP are eager to form an alliance in order to grab power. Omar Abdullah’s statements make it clear that their only goal is to achieve power by allying with anybody to secure their personal interests but both NC and PDP need to understand they can no longer mislead the people of J&K.
He said there is a strong desire among the people for change of leadership, as NC and PDP’s political deceit has no space in the new generation. Vakil further maintained that history is a testament to the fact that both NC and PDP allowed continuous hollowing of Article 370 during their regimes.
