Jammu, Mar 10: National Conference Provincial President Kashmir, Nasir Aslam Wani today called on Governor N N Vohra and presented a memorandum on behalf of the party seeking the rollback of the National Food Security Act from the State in its current form, the redressal of various public grievances and the resumption of work on various stalled developmental works that were started during the previous NC-Congress Government.
The NC Provincial President drew the attention of the Governor towards protests against NFSA in every nook and corner of the State and said the Act has deprived lakhs of souls of the basic allocation of rations and needed to be rolled back in its current form.
“Certain areas in Srinagar like Batapora (Hazratbal), Mujigund (Batamaloo), etc., which have been notified as parts of various Rural Development Blocks have not been excluded from Srinagar Municipal limits till date. Now that Urban Local Bodies elections are being held in the State, these areas need to be excluded from the Srinagar Municipal limits to avoid any ambiguity”, the memorandum stated.
Raising the issue of the exclusion of Srinagar from the Laadli Beti scheme, the NC Provincial President said the district should be included in the scheme without any further delay. The memorandum also requested the Governor to fast-track the process for the notification of the New Master Plan for Srinagar City – as a continued delay amounts to more unplanned construction and prevents the proper economic growth of the city.
“Construction on certain power projects like Kishengaga Power Project is vital for the State. The affected people have not been paid the due compensation till date even after the same has been sanctioned by Government of India. The State Cabinet of the previous PDP-BJP Government had curtailed the compensation amount for reasons best known to them. Due compensation may kindly be released to the affected population at the earliest”, the party memorandum stated.
The memorandum also sought that work on certain stalled developmental projects that were initiated during the previous NC-Congress Government should be resumed without any delay for the welfare of the people.
