JAMMU, Feb 24: Former Chief Secretary and National Conference MLC, Vijay Bakaya today termed National Conference as secular, sympathetic and people friendly party and said that NC is the only party committed to the welfare of Kashmiri Pandits in and outside the Valley, adding that this was the only reason as to why he has joined this party.
Mr Bakaya said this during a visit to the Kashmiri Pandit Colonies of Pounichak, Sari Rakwal and Sari Extension, Gou Manasa road, here today.
Addressing a gathering of over 200 people, Bakaya warned those Pandits, who have hardly tasted the fruit of migration and took it as romance or fiction, for not interfering in the cause of the community and deciding the fate of the Kashmiri Pandits in exile.
The MLC was referring to those Kashmiri Pandits who are well settled in other States and busy in playing politics with the welfare of the migrants.
He appealed the KP leaders in general and Pandits in particular to be united under one umbrella and help the cause of the community and stressed upon them to follow National Conference, which he termed the only party sincere in permanent rehabilitation of KPs.
Referring to his zeal and interest in meetings and interactions with people, Bakaya said that as a bureaucrat also he used to interact with people before going through files.
Meanwhile, the residents of these Colonies put forth their genuine demands before the MLC, who assured them all possible help with regard to their solution.
The demands included installation of new transformer at Sari Rakwal and renovation of the same at Sari Extension, construction of pulley and tiling of lane at Sari Rakwal and concreting of lanes at Sari Extension.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Pinky Bhat, president women wing NC Minority Cell, Karan Chaudhary, SN Dhar, MK Yogi, BL Pandita, Bal Krishan, Amit Ji, Bansi Lal, MK Thussu, Puran Ji Thussu, Bansi Lal Bhat, Shiban Ji Thussu, Panch Balbir Singh.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Veer Ji Pandita, Som Nath Pandita, Poshkar Nath Dhar, Bansi Lal, Naranjan Nath, Bihari Lal Dhar, Rajinder Duggal and Hardey Nath Raina.
Youngsters Adarsh Thussu, Lucky Dass, Pintoo Dass, Rohit Dass, Dalbir Singh, Anchit Thussu and Satish Bhan were also present on the occasion.
