NC seeks inquiry into use of money by Cong in elections

BANIHAL Jan 11: Seeking independent inquiry into disbursement of money, including fake currency, by Congress in the Banihal Assembly Constituency during just concluded Assembly elections, Block National Conference on Friday said this is imperative to restore the faith of people in democracy.
In an emergent meeting, the Block Committee recalled how politically sagacious people deplored the acts of trampling democratic process openly with Congress activists buying the votes to seek election of its candidate, as a result of panic due to mass support to National Conference.
The National Conference also recalled how the immediate kin (who is a government servant) of the sitting Congress MLA Banihal was booked and convicted in a Hawala and fake currency related case a few years ago and said this practice is going on unabated. It also deplored the brazed misuse of power by the sitting legislator, in his capacity as minister, in seeking the release of the convict kin.
The meeting was presided over by District vice president Ramban, Mirwaiz Atta Mohammed Katoch and attended by block office bearers and prominent workers of the party.
