JAMMU, Nov 3: National Conference today described the PDP-BJP Government in Jammu and Kashmir as an abject failure, saying the coalition is plagued by distractions that has slowed down the process of development and left the governance in paralytic mode.
“In fact, the present dispensation has lost the will to govern”, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said at a meeting of senior party functionaries at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan this morning, adding that the slogan of development is just a façade, as the major concern of the insensitive alliance is how to remain glued to power.
The meeting chalked out a programme to highlight the failure of the Government on all fronts on November 6, 2017.
Rana said that the Government has lost trust and confidence of the people, who are highly dejected due to misgovernance, nepotism, favourtism and lack of development. He particularly referred to the disillusionment of the people in Jammu and said the self-centric BJP has betrayed their mandate and had nothing to claim except delivering broken promises.
He said the present dispensation is scripting a very sad saga of reversing the process of development and pushing the State to backwards. He slammed the coalition for its insensitivity towards the multitude of problems facing people and showing disregard to their sentiments and sensitivities. He said the exploitative politics may create euphoria for some time but ultimately the people want better services and their developmental needs fulfilled. These are the areas where the Government is finding itself hugely wanting, he observed.
Former minister and senior leader Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, while addressing the meeting, slammed the Government for showing intolerance to dissent but remaining inaccessible to people, who find let in lurch.
Former minister and Sr State Vice President Surjeet Singh Slathia cautioned the Government, asking it not to take public patience for granted. “They can tolerate to some extent but not to any extent”, he said and referred to absence of basic needs in every sphere”, he maintained.
Former minister Abdul Gani Malik expressed concern over growing problems of the people and said the situation in remote and far-flung areas is precarious, as roads are in highly dilapidated condition and utility services were almost defunct.
State Vice Presidents Rattan Lal Gupta and Th Kashmira Singh gave a detailed account of problems confronted to the people of Jammu and said the Government has been in deep slumber.
Provincial President Youth National Conference Ajaz Jan said that border dwellers have been feeling let down by the present Government, as they have failed in providing them a sense of security by not putting in place shelter sheds.
Former legislators Bimla Luthra and Deepender Kour said that price rises have adversely affected the people.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Babu Rampal, Dr Chaman Lal, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Gurdeep Singh Sasan, Trilochan Singh Wazir, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Waris Gill and others.
The meeting finalized the programme for the Monday rally, which will leave Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan in the morning and pass through Raghunath Bazar, City Chowk and Shalimar before culminating at Civil Secretariat. The rally will highlight the problems of the people.
