NAGROTA, Oct 26: Vowing to undo the injustice meted out to Nagrota Assembly Constituency due to misrepresentation over the years, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today said that a strong edifice will be laid to make it a model across the Jammu region.
“A beginning has already been made during recent years and the tempo to transform will get big push with National Conference forming a strong and stable Government after the November-December elections”, Mr Rana told a huge joint gathering of the people of Panchayats Chibba, Bamyal and and Mar while launching his election campaign.
Mr Rana said Nagrota has suffered due to political myopia and prejudice which has greatly retarded its growth notwithstanding the potential it possesses being in close vicinity of the winter capital. He said ineffective representation has cost the constituency dearly and affected development for quite a time.
“We did push the developmental agenda in recent years which has witnessed a significant turnaround but more is required to be done to the vision of making it a Nava Jammu”, he said amid applause, adding that National Conference believes in progress and prosperity of all, irrespective of caste, creed, colour of region. He wished the constituency had got its due much earlier and said the wrongs will have be to set right with people expressing their democratic will in unison.
Congratulating the people of the three Niabats, the Provincial President expressed the hope that with the creation of new administrative units, Nagrota will usher into a new era and witness overall transformation in development and economic activities.
“Nagrota has got what it aspired due to the strong will and commitment of the people”, Mr Rana said and lauded the visionary policies of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in putting the state, its all the three regions and sub-regions, on right track to achieve the agenda of peace, progress and prosperity.
Mr Rana said that due to efforts of the Chief Minister the state came out of the morass and uncertainty. “Now a new era has stepped in where democracy is flourishing in a big way”, he said and urged the people to participate in the ensuing electoral process in a big way and express their wish for development and progress through the power of vote. He said the policies and programmes of the National Conference have laid a strong democratic edifice in the state which has withstood turbulent tides and test of times with courage and fortitude.
Referring to the achievements of Omar led Government, Mr Rana said self reliance has been achieved in many sectors, laws were enforced to make the administration accountable and transparent, sincere measures were taken to generate employability and above all a sense of security has been instilled among the people which is necessary for peace and development.
Mr Rana, who is National Conference candidate for the Nagrota Assembly Constituency said the creation of new administrative units will pave the way for Nagrota realising its dream of getting transformed into Nava Jammu and flourish as a satellite township in the neighbourhood of the state’s winter capital.
On the occasion Ravi Singh Panch, a staunch Congress worker of Nagrota joined National Conference along with supporters.
