JAMMU, Dec 5: A function was today organized at Chaudhary Park, Gandhi Nagar under the aegis of NCC Group HQ, Jammu (NCC Directorate Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh) by 4 J&K Battalion NCC to honour the next of kin of brave soldier Naib Sub Atma Singh of 9 JAK Rif who made the ultimate sacrifice in the 1971 Indo-Pak war fighting the enemies of the nation.
The programme was attended by Lt Col Mandeep Sekhon, JCOs, other ranks and NCC cadets of 4 J&K Battalion NCC, Jammu.
The next of kin of the braveheart including Sukhdev Singh Anita Rani, Tanu Jamwal and Master Lakshdeep Singh, were felicitated during the function.
The programme included presenting of floral bouquets, introduction of the next of kin to officer, JCOs, NCOs and NCC cadets. The “Act of Valor” of the braveheart was read out followed by singing of patriotic songs by cadets. The NoKs were presented with a shawl and blanket. The event culminated with interaction during tea and refreshments.
