JAMMU, Dec 2: 8th National Conference and Exhibition on Emerging and Innovative Trends in Engineering Technology (NCEEITET), organized by Govt College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), Jammu in technical collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and in association with Consortium of Universities, concluded today at GCET Jammu.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had graced inaugural function of the two-day conference, which was aimed to provide a common platform to academicians, researchers , students & industry professionals to interact and deliberate on latest trends and advancements in technology, research avenues and industry requirements, so as to raise the academic standards; build collaborative alliances and above all provided much needed exposure to the students of different engineering colleges across J&K.
Two days programme of the conference comprised of technical sessions, invited & plenary talks from eminent personalities, researchers and industry professionals. In addition to this, workshop and displays of exhibits by CPSUs/PSUs were also the highlights of the events.
The eminent speaker, Prof R S Bharj from NIT Jalandhar, delivered an invited talk on `Employment Generation through Startups – How and Why’ wherein he urged youth to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and called upon them to find alternatives to public sector jobs by setting up their own business ventures.
Parveen Kumar Abrol, GM-Operations, TA Engineering and innovation Ambassador and Entrepreneurship Coach delivered expert talk on Engineering Value Creation through Entrepreneurship centered around maintaining ethical and professional values in their entrepreneurial journey.
The reputed industries/companies viz; PGCIL, NHPC, CVPPL, NTPC, PFC, JKSPDC, NIELET, BSNL, Tata Power, J&K Bank , IDFC Bank and many others participated and displayed their exhibits showcasing the evolving technologies in their respective fields. The interactive sessions of the students with the company representatives, Rajiv Pharlia, CGM PFC Ltd and Er P C Tiwari Ajmer Discom enlightened them with the latest scientific innovations and technological advancements.
Principal, GCET, Dr Sameru Sharma awarded certificates and trophies for Best Paper Presentations/Best Models/Best Project and Best innovative Idea in the presence of Heads of various departments, senior Faculty, Registrar and Coordinators of the conference. The first prize in the working model category was bagged by UIET, Kurukshetra whereas in Innovative idea category, SKUAST Kashmir clinched first position. Best papers were also awarded in different technical sessions.
